Object or form
A control variable is a factor that is held constant during an experiment. Control variables aren’t usually part of the experiment but are necessary to insure a valid experiment. An example is “How is a variable or variables controlled in psychological study of climate change beliefs?”

Rules
1. The system or boundaries of the inquiry should be clearly defined.
2. All of the variables in model must be relevant.
3. The control variables must be clearly defined.
4. The effects of control variables must be evaluated to assure they are not affecting the study.
