Object or form
Trend analysis involves collecting information or data, analyzing the data, and finding significant patterns. It is often used to predict future events, but could be used to estimate uncertain events in the past. An example question is “What is the correlation significance of the trend in rise in sea level with rising CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere?”

Rules
1. The overall time must be long enough to consider a trend.
2. The trend must have clearly defined highs and lows.
3. When comparing two or more trends, the correlation or overlap must be significant.
4. Additional evidence can be used to verify the trends and correlations.
