Object or formA concept map shows suggested connections between ideas that imply a relationship. Similar to a tree diagram, a concept map is not usually hierarchical. The connections are usually defined by a linking phrase such as causes, requires, like, or other relationship. The relationship may require an arrow to show direction as with “causes.” A concept map can answer questions such as “What are the main causative relations in climate change?”
Rules1. The boundaries of the concept map must clearly defined.
2. Items must be relevant to the inquiry, within the boundaries.
3. Connections between must be valid and well-defined.
4. Connections can be directional if shown as such.
